One size doesn’t fit all in Corporate Learning

With a more complex workplace environment, businesses are looking for a multi-faceted approach when it comes to corporate learning.

This approach has recently been echoed with Josh Bersin’s post ‘The Disruption of Digital Learning.’ Think about it, compliance learning requirements for recertification is far different from leadership development training. We need to adopt different learning technology to deliver these requirements and then glue them all together.

With learning technologies becoming more mature, the majority of learning tools exist in harmony, that is, they have the ability to glue together using clever API’s (application programming interfaces). This means your learners can roam from one learning system to another, whilst maintaining the central reporting you need in learning and development.

Another recent report by Josh Bersin on Forbes talks about how these learning technologies fit.

The different learning technologies outlined by Josh Bersin include:

Learning Experience Platforms – They tend to look and feel more like a website and include adaptive learning to provide you with a very personalised experience. We see these tools used mainly for the more mature learner who wants to access learning at the point of need. You can learn more about our platform Promatum here – www.promatum.com

Programme Delivery Platforms – More based on assignments and missions of learning, think about assigning someone offline objectives of learning. For example, they may be learning about how to increase negotiating technique, one of the assignments or missions via the Programme Delivery Platform is to ask them to evidence this on the job.

Microlearning Platforms – As business is ever changing and moving fast, we need to create short bursts of learning to our workforce. Microlearning Platforms do just that, often bitesize learning of between 1-3 minutes which give you the knowledge you need. They leveraging performance support and on the job learning, thus the 70% of the 70:20:10 learning model is maximised. To learn more about Sound Branch, leveraging audio for communication and knowledge acquisition go to www.soundbran.ch (or sign up here) and our video social learning mobile app, Watch and Learn visit www.watchandlearn.co.uk

Assessment, Development and Delivery – We find that these tools are very specific when it comes to the learners needs. Therefore, we have leveraged our in-house instructional design team to create games, virtual reality and simulations to support the learner.

Content Libraries – We have access to over 100,000 learning modules via our chosen partners. Our learning technology integrates with content libraries such as Lynda.com, Coursera, OpenSesame and Go1.

LMS Platforms – If you require compliance learning that is repeated each year to integrate with other learning technologies as above. We have created corporate universities with over 100,000 users. We see the LMS as the hub for learning and the source of truth when it comes to reporting about the users. We believe the open source landscape is disruptive and innovative, so we are partners to Totara Learn.

Learning Record Stores – We are agnostic when it comes to LRS. We have used many of the vendors in market including Grassblade, Saltbox, Watershed and Learning Locker. They act as the repository of learning if your business is using Tin Can or the experience API.

We’ve gathered the Webanywhere product suite to acknowledge the different learning tools available.
